DRAFT RESOLUTION OF RA GOVERNMENT “ON THE APPROVAL OF THE PROCEDURE FOR THE ATTESTATION OF SCIENTIFIC PERSONNEL, SCIENTIFIC, ENGINEERING AND SCIENTIFIC-TECHNICAL POSITIONS IN STATE SCIENTIFIC ORGANIZATIONS AND MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR THEIR ASSESSMENT”

During the regular session of December 21, the Government of the Republic of Armenia discussed a set of reported issues and adopted the Draft Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Armenia “On the Approval of the Procedure for the Attestation of Scientific Personnel, Scientific, Engineering and Scientific-Technical Positions in State Scientific Organizations and Minimum Standards for Their Assessment.”

With the proposed Draft, the Government approved the qualification categories of scientific positions, minimum efficiency requirements for each of them, which are bases for the involvement of scientists in the training process of scientific personnel, the quality and number of publications in prestigious international periodicals, involvement in international grant programs and their management conditions.

The Procedure also describes the official duties for each category, thus defining the scope of expectations that the State and society can have from each category of scientific positions.

The Draft also defines the positions of leading researcher and principle researcher, which can be applied for by employees, at their own will, who have received the right to age pension in RA and meet the requirements of these positions according to the Draft.

Scientific leadership positions, which until now were not defined by any legal act, and their requirements were unclear, can also undergo attestation. Researchers will now have time to prepare for the mandatory attestation in 2026, as quite serious quality requirements are set for the printing of articles, scientific works and other directions.
