The Road Construction Testing Laboratory of National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia was opened on September 22, 2021 within the framework of the World Bank “SHINLAB” Grant Program.
The main goal of the Program and the opening of the laboratory is to improve the teaching and learning of academic programmes for the construction and maintenance of highways and their infrastructures and to ensure the “Quality Education is to Ensure High Quality Construction” strategy. Other objectives include the development and commercialization of scientific research activities (strengthening of education and science-business connection), the involvement of scientific research activities in the academic process, and the expansion of educational functions and the strengthening of University capabilities.
The laboratory is fully furnished with the latest digital equipment, and next to it an auditorium equipped with a computer and a monitor has been opened, where students conduct theoretical training before performing laboratory experiments.
At the moment, the Road Construction Testing Laboratory provides opportunities for educational purposes to conduct experiments of the main road construction materials such as asphalt concrete, bitumen, gravel, as well as to determine the density of road aggregates. The laboratory has high precision devices which enable determining the bending of separate elements of bridges or other load-bearing structures under the influence of external loads.
