The Educational-Scientific Laboratory for Soil Mechanics under the Chair of Water Systems, Hydraulic Engineering and Hydropower, is designed and furnished with the necessary equipment for determining and assessing the physical and mechanical properties of soils.
In addition to theoretical knowledge, the laboratory provides the opportunity to carry out experiments in accordance with international standards, enabling the implementation of practical projects in various construction fields (Industrial and Civil Construction, Construction and Maintenance of Transport Highways, Water Systems, Hydraulic Engineering and Hydropower). In the laboratory, students can perform experimental tests aimed at improving strength and deformation parameters of the soil and identifying new properties. Field tests are also being conducted.
The laboratory is furnished with appropriately developed equipment for postgraduate students, enabling them to conduct experiments across various scientific fields.
In 2016, the laboratory was upgraded and furnished with high-quality equipment of the Italian MATEST brand in accordance with ASTM, BS, EN and other standards.
In the Educational-Scientific Laboratory for Soil Mechanics, it is possible to carry out the following experiments:
- Sampling, packaging, storage, and transportation of samples (ГОСТ 12071-2014);
- Determination of the plasticity index/ Atterberg limits (ASTM D4318);
