Dear University staff and students,

The “Inspection of Buildings for the Detection of Asbestos-Containing Materials” course is being launched, which is organized in Armenia with the financing of the United Nations Development Programme and the Green Climate Fund, within the framework of the “Reducing the Risks of Investments Aimed at Energy-Efficient Modernization of Buildings” program.

Specialists and students having education in Construction, Engineering, Environmental or other related fields are eligible to participate in the Program. During the Course, participants will gain knowledge on methods of detection and identification of asbestos-containing materials, as well as asbestos risk management, its waste recycling and disposal.

The Program has the following content:

1. Asbestos. Basic Facts
2. National Legislation and Obligations
3. International Regulations and Norms
4. Detection and Identification of Asbestos-Containing Materials (Including Examples and Analysis)
5. Asbestos Risk Management and Safety Assurance
6. Management of the Risks of Working with Asbestos, Its Removal, Transportation and Disposal
7. Asbestos-Related Diseases
8. Local and International Examples and the Best Practices for Asbestos Waste Management

The Course is free of charge and the duration is 6 hours. The participants will receive a certificate, and those who successfully pass the final test will have the opportunity to be engaged in building inspection activities in future on a paid basis and with a flexible schedule.
