On May 19, within the framework of events dedicated to International Museum Day, an exhibition dedicated to a great devotee of Armenian architecture and the founder of the scientific history of the field Toros Toramanyan will be opened at the University in cooperation with the “Service for Protection of Historical Environment and Historical-Cultural Museum-Reserves” SNCO of RA MօESCS and National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia.
During the Exhibition, Toramanyan’s measurements made in Ani and various regions of Armenia, photographs of monuments, as well as his valuable scientific studies, which served as a basis for the formation of Armenian historical-architectural thought, will be presented.
The aim of the Event is to appreciate Toros Toramanyan’s scientific and cultural heritage, especially through the presentation of his activities and legacy to the younger generation. His theoretical and practical work is one of the cornerstones of the study of Armenian architecture.
Exclusive materials of the Toramanyan Personal Fund of the “Service for Protection of Historical Environment and Historical-Cultural Museum-Reserves” SNCO of RA MօESCS, which amount to about 4,000 items, including measurements, artistic and documentary descriptions, as well as photographs on the architectural heritage of Eastern and Western Armenia were presented at the Exhibition.
The presented samples are only a part of the Fund, but they provide a deep insight into the scope of his diligence and scientific legacy.
The opening ceremony of the Exhibition will take place on May 19 on NUACA 2nd floor and will be open by June 19.
